-Leonard Ravenhill Making
the Most of Our Opportunities for Evangelism
One day, beside the Sea of Galilee, Jesus told Peter and his brother Andrew, "Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men." (Matt. 4:19). The Bible tells us they immediately obeyed. They got up and followed Him, and the rest is history. Do you think they could be called followers of Jesus if they didn't win souls? Do you think you can be called a follower of Christ if you are not a soul winner? Our prayer is that God will use us to challenge, inspire and equip you for the greatest work in history - that of bringing people to the Lord Jesus Christ. Any believer can win at least one person to Christ every year.Early in my Christian life I was challenged by a friend who was a very effective soul winner. He said . . . "Bob, God will give you souls. You just have to want them badly enough!" I suspect the reason that most of God's people don't obey Him in their soul winning responsibility is that they don't want to win souls badly enough. Our prayer is that you will make soul winning a priority in your life, and that God will use you to bring at least one person to Christ in the next 12 months. Sumner Wemp, one of my instructors at Moody Bible Institute, used to say, "There is no greater thrill than to see a soul get born of God--right before your eyes." Have you experienced that thrill?
